The client software can be downloaded here:

http://www.hovercontrol.com/HCMOD/HCMOD.zip

Version: 1.12B Released 03/13/2010 2:31am EST
- Adjustments related to HC server moves.
- Added Always On Top option
- Added Transparency option

Beta Software Warning
This software does not touch or change ANY flight simulator files or folders.  That being said....this software is in beta process.  It will contain bugs and is subject to frequent changes on both the client and server side.  If you are not comfortable with handling files manually, and/or editing text files...you should not be using this software yet.

VISTA Users
Remember to make sure that HCMOD is running and/or installed at the same permission level as your Flight Simulator.  This is normally Administrator level.  If you fail to do this, HCMOD will not be able to communicate with Flight Simulator and/or FSUIPC.

FSUIPC Required
HCMOD depends on FSUIPC. Whether you are using FS9 or FSX, you must have FSUIPC (registered or unregistered) installed and working before attempting to install or use HCMOD. Get FSUIPC Here.

Installing and Running HCMOD

1.  Unzip the file to a simple path like: C:\HCMOD
2.  Run HCMOD.exe and put in your username/password (HC forum)
3.  Let the client synchronize with the server..
4.  Start Flight Simulator

5.  Add the HCMOD folder you unzipped (ex. C:\HCMOD) as a new scenery entry in the Flight Simulator Scenery Library.  The HCMOD folder contains a \Scenery and \Texture folder like any other scenery package would have.  From the Flight Simulator Scenery Library select "Add Area" and point it at the HCMOD folder.  You may need to give the area a name such as "HCMOD".

6.  Reload the scenery library (FS2004 requires a restart)
7.  Choose a Mission ID off the mission list (below) and enter it into the client and select "Load Mission".

Mission listings can be found at:

http://www.hovercontrol.com/HCMOD/listings.shtml

Note:

HCMOD requires Microsoft .NET Framework.  Normally you will already have this.  If not, you can get that at the following location:

Microsoft.NET Framework v2.0 - Download (new versions should also work).

Most computers will already have this available in one way or another.  But some might not.  Behr's was a fresh copy of Windows XP - SP3, and it did not come with .NET framework installed by default.  Once he added the framework, HCMOD ran properly.

Hello Jordan,
Just saw this thread and downloaded the "beta".  It installed fine.  Need some help.
I started up FSX to the basic gui.  I started HOD and chose a mission and it loaded fine.  I then clicked on a default free flight file and it loaded.
I just don't know how to get or understand how to start the HOD in FSX.  I "thought" it would load a default chopper and be at the location as if you were clicking on a standardized fsx mission.
You help and fine work is always appreciated.

Hi Jordan;

I have the same problem - Mission ID 72 (Hop List - Missoula Montana) loaded, but doesn't show in the Mission list ? Tried 74 as same issue.

Also the Mssion Timer and Objective Timer started immediately upon import, rather than waiting for the mission to start ?

Am I playing this off the server or via a download into memory on my system ?

There is an introduction thread in this same forum.  You should read it.

HCMOD missions are not related to FSX missions.

They are downloaded from the server (based on the mission ID) and then executed by the local software (the part you are running).

When you enter the mission ID from the server's mission list it is loaded and executed.  The timer will be ticking.  However, not all missions are necessarily time-limit oriented.

I don't have time to document HCMOD at the moment, that is why it is in beta, and a fairly "quiet" beta at that.  I enourage you to play around with it...experiment, and perhaps some of the other users that have been using it already for a while will jump in and help others get involved and answer some of the basic questions.  I will not be able to explain every aspect of it at the moment.  But I do intend to put an entire documentation set up just for HCMOD when I get the opportunity.

I recommend loading/starting the mission once you are already in the cockpit and at a location that is relevant to the mission.

Here is a video of the Las Vegas mission.  Though I don't recommend starting with this one because it might frustrate you.  It is pretty challenging.

Being at the start location did the trick. All the bells and whistles. I'll have to drop my Shift+Z line back to one line, to see the instructions. Np pointer. But if that how it's designed, Pretty Cool.

Jordan,

I just downloaded the HCMOD zip file, and I have a couple of questions to ask you about this. First of all, do the latest computers that use Windows 7 as an OS already have the Microsoft.NET v2.0 Framework installed inside them? Also, how do I go about logging into a particular mission?

Thanks.

If the program will run at all, then the .NET framework is already available.  If you do not have the .NET framework, the program will not start.  Give it a try, it won't hurt anything.

Take a look at the mission list, take a note of one of the mission numbers on the list...plug that number into the mission id box on the HCMOD client and press the load mission button.  The mission will start.

Thanks for the info, Jordan. I will try that to see if it works. I will let you know regardless whether it does or not.

I just tried loading the Las Vegas Tour Mission, but I was having a problem with the password. What password do I have to use in order for it to work?

I tried using the password that I normally use to get into the forum here, and for some reason it wouldn't accept it. Do you think it might be because I don't actually have Microsoft.NET v2.0? That's what I'm starting to think.

I have an idea. I will go ahead and download Microsoft.NET and see if that helps, okay?

I will get back with you at a later date to let you know if that's what was causing the problem.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I suggest you to launch the program in administrator mode, this could be the reason of your troubles

The problem was that the old password wasn't working, so I went and applied for a new one and it worked, except for one thing: it still wouldn't launch because I didn't have the proper servers downloaded, like TS2 or TS3 and FSInn, etc. I also need to purchase a headset with mic, which I can't afford at the moment. As you know, those things are rather expensive. Not only that, but I did not know that I also have to purchase TS3 as well.

Maybe sometime this century I might be able to afford all this stuff.

Here's to hoping!!

The teamspeak 3 client software is free. The instructions on how to set it up are on hovercontrol: teamspeak3 setup
and you can download the software here:  teamspeak3 software

And yep I agree those headsets are pretty expansive if you want to get something that won't hurt your ears after ten minutes using them.

Jordan, instead of manually adding the mission ID, why don't you make an interface to get the list from the server and display it much like FS does? Just wondering.

Because the website might have additional mission details, or maps, etc.

You could have a link for the website.

It's not very practical to come to the site, check the ID and enter it. Just a thought.
